The National Museum of Indian Cinema was inaugurated in January, 2019 at their Films Division Complex on Pedder Road. The Museum is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday (11 AM to 6 PM) and is closed on Mondays and Public holidays. The entry fee to the Museum is Rs 75 for Indian Visitors above 14 years.
They have started interesting events at the complex as follows:
‘Panorama of Indian Cinema’
As part of this initiative, NFDC conducts workshops for students which is aimed at giving them an insider view into the world of cinema. The participants get the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals in the field about various areas of Mass Media and are also awarded with Participation certificates.
These workshops are held every Saturday, on 30th September 2023, they is an exciting workshop titled ‘Basic Film and Video Editing’ by P Ellappan. In the past, they have covered a wide spectrum of topics revolving around Mass Media through these workshops like Screenplay Writing, Direction, Indian Animation, Cinematography and Photography,etc. Please Note: There are limited seats available and Registration is on a first come first serve basis and participation certificates are given to all those who attend.
‘Chronicles of Timeless Treasures’
In an effort to revive classic movies, the National Museum of Indian Cinema hosts screenings for its visitors every Saturday at 4 pm. These movies are restored by the National Film Archive of India so that everyone gets a chance to witness these classics in 4K resolution on the big screen. This week, to honour Dev Anand’s Birth Centenary, they are screening his timeless classics from 23rd to 26th September 2023. They have also having a dress up competition to come and watch the legendary Dev Anand in his own clothing style. Winners will get exciting prizes. In the past they have screened some great classics from all across India like Pyaasa, Devadasu, Jait Re Jait, Avargal, Sonar Kella, Mirch Masala,etc.
