Inner Wheel District 314 - Zone 1 Project Lakshya

February 2025

On December 7th, District 314, Zone 1, successfully hosted Project Lakshya, a career counseling and skill development initiative. Over 425 students, teachers, and guests from six schools attended the event, providing information on a variety of employment opportunities. 5 prominent speakers – Ashish Dikshit, Amit Sidhpura, Sunita Sharma, Pranoti Kapadia, and Kavita Sony—shared their knowledge to motivate and guide the attendees. Project Lakshya was made possible with IGI’s CSR support and a wonderful donation from Kavita Dholakia of IWC Bombay Queens Tiara. The function was led by their District Chairman Prerana Raichur and District Vice Chairman Lakshmi Singh, who was also the Chief Guest.
The Club thanked IWC Bombay Queens Necklace for their CSR cooperation and IWC Bombay Bayview for providing the venue free of charge. The event was the tireless efforts of all 15 Zone 1 Clubs and their Club Correspondents: Alka Ambo, Kritika Dhingra, Shradha Singhal, Sangita Poojara, Meghna Sanghvi, Munira Kathawala, Hiroo Thadani, Sujata Ratnaparkhi, Meena Goculdas, Kavita Sony, Firdaus Shaikh, Harsha Punjabi, Babita Shah, Abhilasha Rajoria, and Saloni Bhansali, as well as their dedicated presidents and members.
This collaborative effort displays the true spirit of service, as well as an ongoing dedication to guiding, empowering, and encouraging significant change among children.

The Inner Wheel Club of Bombay, a pillar of the city’s service community, held its annual presidential installation ceremony on July 1, 2024, at the C.K. Naidu Hall, CCI, Mumbai. The Club ushers in new leadership and celebrates service.

The event marked the passing of the torch for the 2024-2025 term with outgoing President Zarin Havewala passing the baton to incumbent President Dr. Mita Roy.

District Chairman Prerana Raichur graced the ceremony and inspired the attendees as Chief Guest and the young and dynamic Rotarian Satyan Israni, President of Rotary Club of Bombay, joined as Guest of Honour, further solidifying the strong bond between the two partner service organisations.

The Club also took the opportunity to honour one of its veterans, Past District Chairman Lata Palekar, whose dedication has inspired generations of Inner Wheel members. A highlight was the presentation of the prestigious Mira Mehta Award. This year, Mini Suboth, the driving force behind the NGO ‘Akshay Shakti’, received recognition for her tireless work in empowering women and promoting education across diverse segments of society.

The theme for the new year, ‘Building a Future’, resonated through poetry. The evening featured readings of ‘Where the Mind is Without Fear’ by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore and a powerful dance performance of Sohan Lal Dwivedi’s ‘Koshish Karne Walon Ki Kabhi Haar Nahin Hoti’ by underprivileged children.
