Kranti Salvi – extra ordinary marathon runner from our neighbourhood

Kranti Salvi, resident of Walkeshwar is an extraordinary marathon runner, Guinness World Record holder, and a trailblazer for women in endurance sports. Her journey is a testament to determination, cultural pride, and innovative accomplishments.
Guinness World Records
1. Sub – 4 – Hour Marathon in a Sari: Kranti set a Guinness World Record by completing a marathon in under 4 hours while wearing a sari in 2018. This achievement celebrated her cultural roots and showcased the limitless potential of women in sports.
2. Fastest Marathon in a Kimono: At the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon recently in October 2024, she earned another Guinness World Record, running in a traditional Japanese kimono, symbolizing her respect for global traditions and her endurance as an athlete.
3. Marathon in a Welsh Dress: Kranti’s third Guinness World Record came from completing a marathon in a traditional Welsh dress in 2022, highlighting her versatility and creativity in integrating cultural attire into long-distance running.

Notable Achievements
Abbott World Marathon Majors: Kranti is on track to becoming an Abbott World Marathon Majors Six Star Finisher, having completed five out of the six marathons—Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, and New York. She will complete the series at the Tokyo Marathon in March 2025.
Comrades Marathon: She successfully completed the 90 km Comrades Marathon, one of the toughest ultra marathons in the world, held in South Africa.
Numerous Races: Kranti has participated in hundreds of races across distances ranging from 10K to 21K, inspiring countless runners through her dedication and accomplishments.
Community Leadership
Kranti leads Endurance Revolution, a free training group for women in India, encouraging them to adopt fitness and embrace running as a lifestyle. Her work has empowered many women to overcome barriers and achieve their own fitness goals.
