Empowering Seniors

As life goes through its natural progression, we witness many changes. Especially with one’s own life, they witness the deterioration in their body. Many of them throw the towel in as soon as the first wrinkle on the skin is noticed. Reasons for this are plenty- it may be due to declining health, failure to achieve their goals, or an overall dissatisfaction with how their life has progressed. During this time, people around them consistently encourage the idea of retirement.

A life of peace which is isolated from responsibilities. Elders are often asked to take a back seat, and allow the next generation to call the shots for the remainder of their lives. Here seniors lose their self-esteem and will power. However many seniors desire to have the same authority over their own lives, and that can happen with a simple step forward.

How to empower seniors
Safety
This may be the first concern regarding elders. Even if elders do not share that concern, we know intuitively to care about seniors and their health. Seniors do in fact have many chronic illnesses. They are also victims of fall injury and other accidents due to physical limitation. However because of this, seniors are often treated like children. They are treated as though they are incapable of taking care of themselves. This may be the first point in which seniors give up control of their lives. But with all the services and technology at our disposal, we may be able to strengthen our seniors. At ‘The Smiling Souls’ they provide classes for various sessions that enable seniors better help to take care of themselves. Seniors are also able to take advantage of wearable devices like smart watches or GPS trackers that provide an additional level of security. There are also many helpline services, which are there to support seniors at times of crisis. This community also aids in improving seniors’ physical, mental and social well being, promoting greater control over one’s own life.
Financial wellness
In the modern world, one’s finances demonstrates not just one’s wealth or competition but also their freedom. After retirement, seniors often lose their control over their finances. Even though many of them do earn a pension, they may choose to leave the decision-making power to their family. While seniors should not have to work any longer, they do not have to lose their financial freedom. However with the tools at our disposal, seniors are able to allocate and manage their revenue without stress. At ‘The Smiling Souls’, they connect you to various services and trusted partners to help seniors flourish and prosper. Their services include ● Health insurance ● General insurance ● Investment-linked plans ● Income protection plans ● Annuity plans ● Personal accident insurance

Senior travel
Every parent sacrifices plenty for their children. When major life responsibilities are on one’s shoulder, they tend to forget about their hobbies or interests. Seniors often use their time and resources into taking care of their family. There may be plenty of things they have not experienced. Fortunately ‘The Smiling Souls’ can help seniors bring their dreams to life. With our senior’s travel plan, we encourage seniors to finally embark on that journey they have put aside all this time. With trusted partners they help navigate the best travel packages and provide the best options possible. This is an opportunity to experience all that this world has to offer and colour one’s retirement age with adventure.
Gifting a membership
Now for those seniors who have taken the step of empowerment, they can help share it. There may be many seniors around us that are experiencing the same level of isolation and hopelessness. At ‘The Smiling Souls’ seniors have the power to extend these services to their friends or relatives. Through this another senior is able to avail these services free of any membership charges. By doing so, a community of like minded, empowered individuals will be made.
To conclude, The Smiling Souls is a social enterprise dedicated to promoting the happiness and wellness of seniors. They provide different avenues for seniors to enrich their lives and spend the second innings of their life in bliss. There is no reason to let go of the steering wheel of one’s own life. There is always room for new experiences and greater improvements. By joining our community not only do seniors get these benefits, they are contributing to the betterment of senior care.
