Students and civic stakeholders come together to promote responsible festival celebrations and protect Mumbai’s coastline. The Children’s Movement for Civic Awareness (CMCA) organised a city-wide Beach Clean-Up Drive across four locations in Mumbai on 21st September 2026, with support from the BMC and the Mumbai Police.
The clean-up drive was conducted at Badhwar Park, Colaba; Girgaon Chowpatty; Versova Beach; and Juhu Beach, bringing together students, volunteers and civic stakeholders in a collective effort to promote cleaner public spaces and greater environmental responsibility.
The initiative provided students with an opportunity to understand the importance of celebrating festivals in an eco-friendly and responsible manner. Through hands-on participation in the clean-up, students learned about the harmful impact of plastic, chemicals and other pollutants that enter the environment through irresponsible disposal of materials, including those associated with idols.
For CMCA, the beach clean-up was more than an environmental activity. It was an learning opportunity for students to connect civic awareness with action. CMCA thanked all the students, volunteers, civic ofcials, police personnel, schools, colleges, Parle Products, community groups and partners who joined hands for the initiative and contributed to protecting Mumbai’s coastline.
