5th Degree Black Belt (Godan) – Beyond the Black Belt
Inspired by Jean-Claude Van Damme, my Karate journey began in
1998 at the age of 18. Nearly three decades later, Karate continues
to be a journey of learning, discipline, friendship and selfdiscovery. I am deeply grateful to Kyoshi Sensei Rajesh Thakkar
for his guidance, encouragement and teachings throughout this
journey.
I continue to practise regularly under the guidance of Sensei
Thakkar at P.J. Hindu Gymkhana, reminding myself that progress
comes through patience, consistency and the willingness to keep
trying.
Achieving 5th Dan (Godan) in August 2024 was a proud milestone, but the journey does not end with a belt or a rank.
For me, Karate is much more than medals and trophies. It teaches us condence, humility, iscipline and inner strength—qualities that guide us far beyond the dojo.
My message to every Karateka is simple: Do not worry about how far you have to go. Take one step at a time. Keep training. Keep believing. Keep learning. There will be difcult days. There will be setbacks. But every challenge is an opportunity to become stronger. Your journey is your own. Stay patient. Stay humble. Never stop moving forward. The greatest achievement is not reaching the destination – it is having the courage to continue the journey.
