Article by Shri Rahul Narwekar

As I walk the vibrant streets of South Mumbai, I see not only the city’s heartbeat but also its future—a future I am deeply committed to shaping.

I am Adv. Rahul S. Narwekar, your Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, working tirelessly for the betterment of our beloved state.

As your public representator, I want you to know that my initiatives are more than promises; they are steps towards a sustainable and culturally rich South Mumbai.

I recently had the privilege of discussing the future of the Malabar Hill reservoir and the Mahalaxmi racecourse with many of you. I assure you, any developments will move forward only with our collective decision, safeguarding the historical essence we all cherish.

The Malabar Hill reservoir, our cultural cornerstone, will not be remodelled without your consensus. Likewise, the Mahalaxmi racecourse will continue to be a space for all to enjoy, without losing its inherent charm to unconsidered development.

Looking towards our waterfront, I envision a Marina at Princess Dock that stands on par with the world’s best, enhancing our city’s beauty and functionality. This development will ensure safety, efficiency, and enjoyment for everyone visiting the Gateway of India.

Tackling traffic congestion is also high on my agenda. We’re in this together, and with thoughtful planning, we can create flowing streets that mirror the energetic pulse of our youthful city.

My vision for South Mumbai is to forge a neighbourhood that not only retains its beauty but also echoes the ambitions of its youth.

Let us join hands to write the next chapter for South Mumbai – one where our heritage meets our progressive aspirations.

Together, let’s build a South Mumbai that leads not only our city but also our nation into a future that’s as radiant as the history we hold dear.

Your support, your voice, and your vote are what will turn this vision into reality. Let’s step into the future with confidence and pride.

Yours in service,

Adv. Rahul S. Narwekar

(Rahul Narwekar is MLA of Colaba Assembly Constituency and also the Hon. Speaker of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly)
