The musical trio of Shankar Ehsaan Loy has rearranged the music for our National Anthem which will be played in theatres along with a short film which is a tribute to INS Vikrant.
INS Vikrant was India’s first aircraft carrier and a hero of the 1971 Indo-Pak war. It is now decommissioned (2014). The aircraft carrier was a caring mother to the ones who served on her and who were conferred with 12 Vir Chakras and 2 MahaVir Chakras. The metal of this mighty and invincible fighter is being used by Bajaj Auto for the making of ‘V’ (Vikrant) bikes that they have launched recently.
Incidently, 50 years ago, Ehsaan’s father late Dilawar K. Noorani (also the architect for UshaKiran, Bombay’s first
sky-scraper) had designed the bar onboard Vikrant. And now his son Ehsaan of the trio has composed music for the National Anthem for the film on Vikrant.
‘My Dad, Late Dilawar K. Noorani, was given the honour of designing the bar on board INS Vikrant by Rear Admiral Nanda in the early 60’s, and often spoke about a plaque which had his name engraved on it, placed overhead the entrance door to the bar’ says Ehsaan Noorani, and adds ‘Strangely, I found an article on the net which had the heading – The INS Vikrant bike starts March 23, the date of my Dads death anniversary’ he says, as he goes into a thoughtful silence.
