On 27th June at Samrat Hotel Banquet Hall gathered for a celebration that touched every heart. Green Garden Group, walkers of Hanging Garden were celebrating and honouring their pride, their respected ‘Naru Kaka’. For decades, Naru Kaka is seen in the morning. Even till a few months ago, at 99+, he would drive his own car from his home to Gardens, park it himself, and join others for the walk. Rain, heat, or winter – the walking track is incomplete without him.
But Kaka is more than a walker. He is like a guide to all walkers. Every morning, walkers made it a point to greet and take his blessings before starting. This gives them energy for the whole day.
A display of Kaka’s early photos started off the celebrations at the Status Hotel. A skit about his life was performed by other walkers. The women had put up a dance performance. MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha and Municipal Corporator Sunny Sanap was also present. Naru Kaka, you have taught us discipline, humility, and how to age with grace. Hanging Gardens will always be yours; we are honoured today to become witness to 100 years of inspiration. (On behalf of all walkers)
