Innovation takes centre stage as CASE children explore wonders of Science
Date: November 25, 2024, Topic: Project Day - Exploring the Wonders of Science, Venue: SRCC - Citi Academy for Skill and Education (CASE)
SRCC Citi Academy for Skill and Education (CASE) hosted its much-anticipated Project Day on Monday, marking a significant milestone in the organisation’s commitment to providing inclusive and comprehensive education. The event, graced by Chief Guest Padma Bhushan Mr. S. Ramadorai, a
pioneering gure in India’s information technology revolution, celebrated the spirit of scientic inquiry and
discovery among children with diverse learning needs.
The program commenced with a devotional rendition of “Ma Sharade” performed by the children, setting a serene and auspicious tone for the day’s proceedings. The gathering was honoured by the presence of Ms. Mala Ma’am, Chairperson of CASE, Ms. Nandita Sirur, Director (Academics) at CASE, therapists, parents, and visitors from nearby schools, including BJPC, VMS Learning Centre, Child Reach, and TABIS.
This year’s Project Day centered on science and hands-on experiments, reecting CASE’s philosophy that every child deserves access to the same educational experiences offered in mainstream institutions. While Environmental Science (EVS) forms a core part of the curriculum at CASE—teaching children about natural environments, living organisms, and human impact through pollution and deforestation—the organisation recognised that children often miss the opportunity to appreciate the interconnected beauty of biology, chemistry, and physics through practical experimentation.
The event showcased an impressive array of projects across different learning levels. Senior classes demonstrated sophisticated experiments, including the creation of a volcano, testing lung capacity using balloons, and experiments involving magnetic fields, solar energy, and simple to complex
machines. Another group within the older category highlighted environmental responsibility through the
principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle.
Middle classes were equally immersed in hands-on scientific exploration. They presented projects such as life cycles of butterflies and frogs, water-based experiments exploring refraction, salinity, and buoyancy, demonstrations related to the human body and health, and models explaining natural calamities. Vocational-level learners showcased practical applications of science through projects on seed germination, plant varieties, and personal hygiene.
The younger classes delighted visitors with engaging, ageappropriate experiments that showcased the playful side of science. These included simple sink-and-oat activities and an exciting “Secret Agent Mission” featuring invisible ink experiments.
Each group presented their models, charts, and working demonstrations, while therapists and parents supported children in explaining complex scientic concepts to visitors. The interactive format encouraged children to take pride in their work while developing communication and presentation
skills. A prize for the best group presentation added an element of healthy competition to the celebrations.
Through this Project Day, CASE once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to nurturing every child’s potential, regardless of their learning challenges, ensuring that the joy of scientific discovery remains accessible to all.
