A must -buy and read book – for everyone. Important for both non-vegetarians and vegetarians to learn more about this subject.
There are 8 chapters in the book of 42 pages. Its quick to read, the language is easy and simple to understand.
In the preface the author writes ‘food is the most important factor responsible for the killing of animals, birds and other creatures.
On the back cover there is a quote by the famous French Poet, Jean-Jacques Rousseau: “The animals you eat are not those who devour others; you do not eat the carnivorous beasts, you take them as your pattern. You only hunger for the sweet and gentle
creatures which harm no one, which follow you, serve you, and are devoured by you as the reward of their service”.

In the introduction the author writes ‘While Vegetarianism in India as old as the ancient religions of India, Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism, it will be of interest to learn that even in the ancient Greece, it was preached and practiced by such great philosophers.

In the chapter ‘Physiological Aspect’ the author mentions, ‘The most logical argument in this regard
is that our nearest ancestors the monkeys including the anthropoid apes who genetically resemble us so
much are vegetarians’.
In another chapter the author has published a detailed table of ‘Nutritive values of Vegetarian Diet’
and has followed by mentioning the high Cholesterol content of Non Vegetarian food if consumed.
There is a chapter “Vegetarian Sports Personalities & Animal Kingdom’ where the author mentions the
name of famous sportsperson who are vegetarian.
Carl Lewis winner of 9 Olympic gold medals was a vegetarian and many more. Amoung animals the
author writes ‘Burly vegetarians from the animal kingdom include bulls, rhinos, hippopotamus,
gorillas and of course the mightiest of all animals, the elephant”.
