Rameshbhai Parikh, a man of immense talent and patriotism.
His life blended academic brilliance, entrepreneurial success & an enduring love for music & our country. Giants Group of
Chowpatty Born into a family with deep patriotic roots. His parents played a significant role in India’s independence movement. A Chemical Engineer from UDCT with a Master’s from Brooklyn Polytech, USA, he made notable contributions to Chemplast, Kamani Group, and IRRCO before founding SPAREX Marketing Consultancies. Beyond his profession, Ramesh Parikh was a gifted harmonica player, earning a spot on American television in the 1960’s itself.
He mesmerised audiences with Indian ragas & Western tunes. Encouraged by his granddaughter, Tejasvee, he recorded & uploaded his music on YouTube, reigniting his passion. An article in ‘Time Out’ highlighted his busking at Hanging Garden, inspiring him to establish Mumbai Harmonics in 2014, uniting harmonica enthusiasts.
While he often played patriotic songs, his repertoire spanned Bollywood classics, international hits, and Indian classical music, especially Dhrupad, showcasing his deep musical sensibilities. His grandson, Arjunvir, also found joy in playing alongside him, learning the nuances of the harmonica and sharing precious moments of music together.
At the heart of his world was his beloved wife, Durga, with whom he shared a boundless and deep love. Their daughters Reena and Shama embodied the values they nurtured.
Ramesh Parikh’s warmth and commitment left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Though he is no longer with us, his Harmonica music will live on through the melodies he cherished and the community he built.
