Students of Rajesh Thakkar’s Karate Academy (RTKA) participated in the recently concluded Maharashtra State Level Karate Tournament, held at the Andheri Sports Complex on March 2nd and 3rd. Organised by the Karate Association of Maharashtra, in collaboration with the Karate India Organisation, the tournament provided a platform for students to showcase their skills and determination.
In the Kumite categories, Nilesh Singh in 16 & 17 years and Manan Parekh in U-21 years exhibited their martial arts prowess, demonstrating agility and precision. Preesha Kothari secured a Bronze medal in the Kata (U-21 years) category, showcasing her dedication to disciplined Karate techniques. Tanishq Jain was also selected to represent Mumbai City in the Kata (U-21 years) category.
In the Open categories, Sunny Gandhi demonstrated his skills in Kumite, while Bhoomika Nisar participated in both Kata and Kumite events, displaying a balance of skill and commitment. The Group Kata performances by Dakshesh Shah, Manan Parekh, and Tanishq Jain, along with the Bronze medal by the Group Kata Female (U-21) team, emphasized the academy’s emphasis on teamwork and coordination.
Individual recognitions include Preesha Kothari’s Joint 3rd place in the State Level Kata for Girls U-21 and the Joint 3rd place (Bronze) in the Team Kata event for Girls, shared with Suhanee Bafna and Bhoomika Nisar.
Bhoomika Nisar secured the 2nd place (Silver) in Shiai in the 68kg category. Our publication extends our heartiest congratulations to all the winners, recognising their hard work and dedication. RTKA has been a beacon for spreading the art of traditional Karate and the students of the Academy represented Mumbai City with great character.
