Renowned fashion designer duo Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna showcased their new capsule collection, “Noir Botanica,” at Galeries Lafayette in South Mumbai, which was transformed into a more intimate setting. The evening moved away from the traditional runway show format. Instead, the designers turned the department store into an atmospheric setting, imagining it as a Parisian room after dark, filled with sultry jazz music and guests dressed for the occasion.
The capsule showcased menswear and womens-wear with a focus on fitted tailoring, stunning silhouettes, and intricate embroidery. One could see the designer’s vision in the experimentation with botanical shapes and the contours of the body. The colours black, silver, and sage green dominated the show. Zardozi, lace, velvet, crepe, silk, and chiffon brought contrasting textures to the garments bringing traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary touch.
Actor Vijay Varma closed the show in a beautiful sage green ensemble with silver threadwork on it. Actors Kajol, Babil Khan, Vishal Jethwa and Mahima Makwana were among the guests who attended the presentation and showed their support for the designer duo. With its combination of sharply tailored garments, intricate detailing, and atmospheric music, Noir Botanica offered an interpretation of evening fashion that was both contemporary and nostalgic.
The collection brought together the drama of the night with the craftsmanship that defines Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna’s design aesthetic.
