RFS Talyarkhan Memorial Invitation Cricket Tournament, a premier ‘A’ division tournament was once again hosted by the Bombay Gymkhana from 20th to 25th February 2024. Started in 1972 and this was the 45th edition of this tournament.
This eight team tournament is open to 6 premier Clubs such as Bombay Gymkhana, Cricket Club of India, Parsee Gymkhana, P.J. Hindu Gymkhana, Islam Gymkhana, Mumbai Police Gymkhana and MCA Colts and Kanga League ‘A’ Division Champion MIG Cricket Club. The Tournament is conducted under the aegis of the Mumbai Cricket Association and sponsored by Nirlon Ltd.,
Parsee Gymkhana dished out another magnificent performance and regained the title defeating reigning Champions P.J. Hindu Gymkhana by 12 runs in an engrossing final of the tournament, played under floodlights of the Bombay Gymkhana ground.
After Captain Kevin D’Almeida elected to bat, Parsee Gymkhana despite losing quick early wickets did well to post a challenging total of 170 for six wickets from their quota of 20 overs. Later, Parsee Gymkhana bowlers rose to the challenge as they were disciplined and defended well to dismiss Hindu Gymkhana for 158 runs in 19.5 overs to emerge Champions for the seventh time in the last nine years.
