Autistic to Artistic– Shraddha Charitable Trust
Every year on April 2, people mark World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) to raise awareness of the rights, acceptance, and inclusion of people with autism. The United Nations designated autism as a lifelong neurological condition in 2007, and acceptance allows individuals to participate fully and effectively in society. Activities include community activism, educational activities, and mainly donning blue or other colours to demonstrate support.
On April 2, the Shraddha Charitable Trust supported the WAAD celebrations at Janta Nagar Municipal School, Tardeo. The trust, which operates under the theme “Autistic to Artistic,” assists these individuals in creating handcrafted products for sale, promoting independence and providing a source of income. The event was successfully managed by trustees Bhavin Mehta and Rekha Mehta, along with other trust volunteers. Numerous residents of our community participated and brought a variety of goods to demonstrate their support. Workshops were held in two classrooms, and students created artworks on the spot to put up for sale. A variety of items were for sale, including envelopes, paper bags, tote bags, wallets, trays, coasters, torans, and many more. Many of these goods were created from recyclable materials, thus they are also environmentally friendly.
Employees at the Taj Hotel Industries donated their uniforms, from which students created passport covers and other products. Many businesses and individuals use these products for gifting. The World Autism Awareness Day celebration was not simply an event, but a crucial step toward promoting inclusion, creativity, and independence among those with autism. Through the efforts of Shraddha Charitable Trust, its committed trustees, volunteers, and supporting community members, the program successfully showcased the qualities and potential of these individuals.
The event highlighted the importance of inclusion and equal possibilities by encouraging participation, promoting eco-friendly handcrafted products, and raising awareness.
